How do I find the right counselor for my teen?
As you research different practices around your area, you might notice that they seem to cater to everyone and everything. Here at Columbus Women’s Wellness, we specialize specifically in the challenges of women and teen girls. We encourage you to explore our providers, and when you and your teen are ready to take the first step, we will be here.
What age is appropriate for counseling?
Children and adults of any age can benefit from counseling. If your teen asks you to help them find a counselor, or you think counseling could be helpful and they are willing to participate in counseling, then we are here to help.
Should parents be involved in their teen’s therapy?
As a parent, you want to do everything you can to help make your child’s therapy effective. The first session may include time with the teenage client and parent/parents together as well as one-on-one time with your teen. The end of the session will include a consultation with you and your teen to discuss next steps.
How much can I expect my child’s counselor to share with me?
Trust that your teen’s counselor will clue you in on what you need to know, including if your child is in danger or thinking of harming someone else. The counselor may share general information as well, such as what goals your teen is working towards.
